  • Mushroom Flatbread:
    Homemade Bechamel sauce with a hint of white truffle oil, sautéed mushrooms placed on a bed of gruyere and mozzarella cheese blend, placed on our unique and delicious flatbread.

  • Stuffed Mushroom:
    Portobello Mushroom base with a filling of mushroom stems, chopped garlic, diced onion, pork bacon, and baby spinach. Topped with panko breadcrumbs. (also available without bacon)

  • Mushroom and Spinach Quiche:
    Wild mushrooms blend, thinly sliced onion, chopped garlic, baby spinach, dijon mustard, thyme, and Gruyere cheese. (contains eggs and dairy)

  • At 7:30 PM, Did you know that fungi can act as a powerful tool to manage environmental pollution? Learn about these amazing organisms’ eco-superpowers with Dr. Cherie DeVore as she shares ecological restoration work, which is grounded in Indigenous knowledge.
  • At 8:30 PM, Embark on an evening of discovery with Oakland Hyphae in a talk about the fascinating science behind entheogenic (or psychoactive) mushrooms. Learn about the Indigenous and ancestral roots of human use of various types of mushrooms, get the basic skills needed to cultivate fungi in your own home, and so much more.

  • Expand your fungi familiarity while getting your hands dirty in a workshop with Arthur Lee of Mazu Mushrooms, where you’ll learn all about mushroom cultivation and build your own oyster mushroom grow kit to take home.

  • Forage some fungi fashion with the Museum of Craft and Design! Make a sparkling Magic mushroom crown or a Button ‘shroom bandanna– it will be spore fun than you can imagine!
  • Get your fungi on with mushroomy treats to sample or buy from Chaga Company and Shared Cultures. From nourishing teas and coffees to umami-filled seasonings and misos, there’s something tasty for every fungi fan.
  • Meet one of the most talked about species in nature: the Mycorrhizal fungi. Learn why this symbiotic fungus is at the heart of so much scientific debate and see them in action in a live demonstration with the folks at Stanford’s Kabir Peay Lab

Mushroom Hunt

  • Search for one-of-a-kind mushroom art hidden throughout the museum by Artist and creator of the worldwide holiday Game of Shrooms Daniel Seifert, better known as Attaboy. Check for clues via his Instagram @attayumfactory for eagle-eyed NightLife attendees to find (and keep!). Pro tip: Be sure to show up when doors open for the best chance to score one of Attaboy’s pieces!

A few don't-miss NightLife details:

  • Effective September 16, NightLife guests will no longer be required to provide proof of full vaccination or a recent negative test. We still strongly encourage all guests to stay up-to-date on their vaccinations, and to mask up indoors. As always, if you’re feeling under the weather, please NightLife another time.   • Last entry into the rainforest exhibit is 7:30 pm—our animals need their sleep.
     
  • Morrison Planetarium is now open at NightLife with 4 showtimes. To maximize staff and guest safety, planetarium passes are required and capacity is limited. Passes are available online in advance for an additional $5 while supplies last to reserve a seat at a 6:30, 7:30, 8:30, or 9:30 pm planetarium show. Please see our FAQs for more details. (Please note: A limited number of standby seats will be available for all showtimes as space allows on a first-come, first-served basis. Food and drink are not permitted inside the planetarium.)
     
  • Beverages are available at various bars throughout the building, but food must enjoyed outdoors or in the Academy Cafe only.
