SAN FRANCISCO (September 11, 2014) – San Francisco residents will have opportunities to visit and explore the California Academy of Sciences free of charge during the upcoming fall and spring seasons, with the help of a generous grant from Target. Over the past fifteen years, thousands of San Francisco residents have visited the Academy during Neighborhood Free Days. The Academy’s award-winning sustainable building, which will soon pass its six-year anniversary, houses an aquarium, planetarium, rainforest, and natural history museum – all under one living roof. Each neighborhood, defined by zip codes, will have two opportunities to visit the Academy for free over a three-day weekend (Friday, Saturday or Sunday). The fall series of free weekends runs from September 26-October 26, 2014 and the spring series of free weekends runs from February 27-March 22, 2015.

“At Target, we are committed to serving local communities where we do business,” said Laysha Ward, President of Community Relations for Target. “That’s why we are proud to partner with the California Academy of Sciences as we work to strengthen communities and enrich the lives of our guests and team members.”

Each visiting adult must show a valid photo ID with proof of residency—acceptable items or combinations can be found on www.calacademy.org/neighborhood-free-weekends.
