The Academy is delighted to offer several evening events for press attending the APEC Conference in San Francisco the week of Nov. 13. Registration is required for two complimentary events at the Academy, as listed below (Planetarium Lecture and Hope for Reefs Talk followed by Behind-the-Scenes Tour).

Where do the heaviest elements come from? It's a little more complicated than we once thought.
Join us for this lecture featuring Dr. Enrico Ramirez-Ruiz, University of California, Santa Cruz, a science adviser to the Academy's new planetarium show, Spark: The Universe in Us.

Hope for Reefs Talk and Behind-the-Scenes Tour
California Academy of Sciences
Luiz Rocha, the Academy's curator of ichthyology, will share details about the Academy's work to reverse the decline of coral reefs by 2030 in the Philippine Coral Reef. Then we'll take you behind the scenes for a tour of the Academy's vast collections from around the world.
