Bay Area Wilderness Training supports teachers and youth workers with training, gear, funding, and community – helping you get youth outdoors! Check out the following professional development opportunities for anyone who works with children or youth.
Training
Bay Area Wilderness Training has a variety of low-cost leadership training courses for youth workers of all backgrounds. All BAWT courses are experiential and meant to teach participants how to use the outdoors as a tool for experiential learning.
You can expect to leave the courses with the following skills under your belt:
- Planning safe and fun backpacking trips, day hikes, and camping trips for children and youth
- Managing risk
- Reading a map and trail navigation
- Keeping youth energized and engaged during trips
- And more!
Gear
After completing one of BAWT's courses, you may borrow camping equipment, clothing, and all the necessary gear for outdoor trips for all of your students for FREE. Alumni can check out equipment from one of our gear libraries.
