science vs engineering

Special note:  This is a two part workshop taking place on Saturday March 9 and Saturday March 16, 2019.  In order to participate, you must attend both sessions.

The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) put a spotlight on engineering. What can engineering look like in the classroom? How can thinking like an engineer benefit students? And can engineering happen in every content area-- or is it just for building bridges?

Many of us grew up thinking that engineering was just about building bridges or designing gadgets. While some engineers really do those things, it turns out there is a lot more to it! Engineering is an iterative, collaborative process involving critical thinking, problem solving, and communication. In this workshop, you will discover what engineering really looks like and how it can be applied to many content areas. Go beyond the stereotypical engineering activities and find ways to integrate this way of thinking across your science curriculum.

This is a two-part workshop taking place on March 9 and March 16, 2019.  Each session is from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm.  In order to participate, you must be able to attend both sessions.
