A pterosaur swoops over San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge

On Thursday, May 18, Academy members are invited to swoop in for an advance viewing of our new exhibit, Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of Dinosaursthe largest exhibit about these creatures ever mounted in the United States.

Marvel at life-size models and ancient fossils of the largest flying animals that ever lived. Explore an action-packed Cretaceous seascape diorama. Take flight with a cutting-edge interactive and use your body to “pilot” a pterosaur through virtual prehistoric landscapes.

The True Pterosaur

Piazza, 10 am

Pterosaurs often show up in movies and books but facts aren't always center stage. Join us for this theatrical comedy in which a scientist and a director attempt to create a scientifically accurate music video about pterosaurs–with a little help from Academy members like you.

 

Storytelling Through Time

Science Today Station, 11 am

Storytime with a prehistoric twist. Don’t miss this adventure with mysterious animals from over 200 million years ago. Recommended for children 2-8 years old.
